EVENT & WELLNESS COORDINATOR

The Event & Wellness Coordinator is responsible for preparing for and managing events, classes, and programs using farm venues including weddings, retreats, pottery classes, natural skills instruction, fitness and yoga classes, concerts, movie nights, educational tours and seminars, presentations, spa treatments, guided meditation, hikes, cooking classes, short-term rentals, volunteering, community meetings, etc. This person should be naturalist minded with a holistic approach to health & wellness using non-toxic and environmentally friendly materials. This could be a part-time contract position for someone with their own business license and liability insurance, or a part to full-time employee position.

Compensation:

​

  • $18-$21 hourly base rate

  • 15% profit commission​

  • 3 weeks PTO accrued annually (FT)

  • Potential for housing accommodations (FT)

  • As a startup we currently do not offer health or retirement benefits

Responsibilities:

 

Events

​​

  • Responsible for the promotion, administration, management, and supervision of events and programs

  • Develop lessons about nature from the forest and all living things on it, to the ocean and all creatures underneath

  • Educate the public about wildlife and conservation concerns, such as plant and animal identification, invasive species, climate change, healthy soil practices, etc.

  • Plan and implement educational events and programs for all ages

  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and venues

  • Research vendors (catering, decorators, musicians etc.) and choose the best combination of quality and cost

  • Book venues, caterers, entertainers, photographers, and schedule speakers

  • Liaise with vendors, exhibitors, and stakeholders during the event planning process to ensure everything is in order

  • Oversee event happenings and act quickly to resolve problems

  • Conduct final inspections on the day of the event to ensure everything adheres to the client’s standards

  • Manage all event set-up, tear down, and follow-up processes.

  • Create reliable financial reports and collect payments on time

Wellness

​

  • Serve as the exercise instructor and fitness advisor in training circuits, group classes, and individual settings

  • Plan and host seminars, workshops, and other community events aimed at promoting health and wellness 

  • Plan, design, evaluate, modify, coordinate and implement employee wellness programs which meet the needs of the current workforce focusing on initiatives to improve health and prevent diseases and disability

  • Help people appreciate the relationship between nature and human beings, how they are related with each other and how they affect each other

Qualifications:

​​

  • US work authorized

  • Valid driver's license

  • Certifications in one or more of the following disciplines: yoga, fitness training, nutrition, massage therapy, esthetics, health coaching, boxing, emergency medicine, etc.

  • Art proficiency in one or more of the following areas: pottery, sketching, painting, woodworking, photography, videography, music, etc.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be comfortable presenting information to a group of people

  • Well organized with excellent multitasking abilities

  • Willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification

 

Preferred Skills (not required):

  • Spanish / English bilingual

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in environmental studies, communications, healthcare, wellness, or fitness related field 

  • Ability to plan and prepare minimally processed health food & meals utilizing seasonal produce from the farm

  • Homesteading skills such as organic gardening, butchering, baking, food preservation, and composting

  • Survivalist skills such as wilderness first aid, nature mapping & navigation, foraging, shelter building, fire starting, and water purification

  • Experience with naturopathic healing such as aromatherapy, herbology, energy healing, and acupuncture
